Magic Online Infect in Modern

With the banning of Treasure Cruise in both Modern and Legacy my previous Magic Online deck choices have become a bit more suspect. I am all in on UR delver in Legacy and 4C Burn in Modern. Both decks rely heavily on Treasure Cruise and while both are still playable neither are as good post banning. In my search for my new legacy and modern deck, I thought about where I wanted to end up. The deck that I want to play in legacy is RUG delver (as well as other delver variants) and in modern I want to be able to play Splinter Twin, UWR, RUG, Burn, and Infect.

Short of dropping approximately $1000+ on a whole bunch of cards, I needed to do some planning. Unfortunately, there is not a ton of crossover between these decks, so I put my emphasis to work on getting the right lands first. I am putting off buying Tarmogoyf because I think it will be reprinted in Modern Masters 2 and I will look to buy in when the price drops off. I already have the UR lands (and RG for some reason) so that put me on grabbing up the UG lands (Tropical Island and Breeding Pool). The only viable deck in legacy and modern than I could think of that runs those colours is Infect.

Long story short this is where I am started with my Modern Infect list:

Creature [13]

1 Ichorclaw Myr
4 Blighted Agent
4 Glistener Elf
4 Noble Hierarch

Instant [19]

1 Become Immense
2 Apostle's Blessing
4 Groundswell
4 Might of Old Krosa
4 Mutagenic Growth
4 Vines of Vastwood

Sorcery [6]

4 Gitaxian Probe
2 Distortion Strike

Enchantment [2]

2 Wild Defiance

Land [20]

2 Forest
2 Pendelhaven
3 Breeding Pool
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Windswept Heath
4 Wooded Foothills
1 Misty Rainforest

Sideboard [15]

2 Viridian Corrupter
1 Ichorclaw Myr
1 Wild Defiance
1 Dryad Arbor
2 Dispel
4 Nature's Claim
2 Spellskite
2 Twisted Image

So far, the deck has been performing very well and people are either not ready for it or do not know how to play versus the deck very well. As people get more used to playing the deck I have been drafting up ideas for V2.

I have a short list of a few other cards that have been in and out of my sideboard:

Relic of Progenitus
Pithing Needle

This is what I am thinking about for V2:

Creature [13]

1 Ichorclaw Myr
4 Blighted Agent
4 Glistener Elf
4 Noble Hierarch

Instant [19]

1 Become Immense
2 Apostle's Blessing
4 Groundswell
4 Might of Old Krosa
4 Mutagenic Growth
4 Vines of Vastwood

Sorcery [6]

4 Gitaxian Probe
2 Distortion Strike

Enchantment [2]

2 Wild Defiance

Land [20]

2 Forest
1 Temple Garden
2 Pendelhaven
3 Breeding Pool
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Windswept Heath
4 Wooded Foothills

Sideboard [15]

1 Viridian Corrupter
3 Geist of Saint Traft
1 Dryad Arbor
2 Dispel
4 Nature's Claim
2 Spellskite
2 Twisted Image

Geist of Saint Traft gives a different angle of attack and can come in to the deck to replace Glistener Elf.  Glistener Elf is bad in many matchups because he gets killed too easily or your opponent has too many blockers gumming up the ground.

I have a short list of a few other cards that I also want to try test out between the main and side:

Stonewood Invocation - Split second is super nice especially when we are working with info off of Gitaxian Probe, etc. I have to be careful to remember that it does however give shroud and not hexproof!
Ranger's Guile - A worse Vines of the Vastwood but with a tiny bit of pump built in. While the card seems somewhat underwhelming it has a little utility as a pump spell and protection.
Predator's Strike - I am not sure if titanic strength is just better but I do sometimes wish that my infect guys had trample.

-Cheers-
