There is a huge amount of buzz surrounding Tiny Leaders at the moment and I think it has reinvigorated many people to looking at all the other varieties of Magic that are out there, EDH, singleton, etc.. I have an undeveloped idea that may or may not work and may or may not be fun...so here goes.
I call it Land Draft because I haven't come up with a better name yet and the basic game plays out similar to a normal draft, except that the packs are slightly larger (~20 cards?) and you get more packs (~ 4 packs? ). You make the packs yourself just like you do if you want to cube draft at home with friends. The big difference is that in this draft you have to draft lands and basic lands to make your deck. So your deck can ONLY be made with cards that you draft. I think this could lead to an interesting tension between taking powerful cards and taking a necessary resource to play them...It could also lead to different types of hate drafting, playing off colour lands, playing weird splashes, etc. While it would likely never become a "staple" Magic format, I think it is a very interesting thought experiment.
